Summer isn’t here quite yet, but warmer days definitely are! Boating is a great way to get some fresh air outdoors while social distancing. Here are eight essential items to pack for your next day on the boat.

1. Snacks
Fuel up with your favorite snacks like fruit, granola, pretzels and hummus, cashews, and protein bars. Boating can be tiring, especially when you spend all day in the sun. For this reason, snacks are vital.

2. Cooler
You need plenty of water to accompany your snacks and keep you hydrated. Store your beverages in a cooler. If you want to go the extra mile, store your sunscreen in the cooler, too! It will feel extra refreshing when you apply sunscreen after spending time in the hot sun.

3. Towels
You can never pack too many towels. Bring a few extras so you can sit on the beach, dry off after you swim, and clean off your kids before get into your car at the end of the day.

4. Sunscreen
This is a given, but we have to mention it for good measure. Protect your sun from harmful rays with sunscreen. Waterproof is best, but make sure to reapply often.

5. Clothes
If you don’t want to sit in your wet swimsuit for hours, pack a change of clothes. It will feel so good to change into a dry t-shirt and pair of shorts for the drive home.

6. Dry Bag
You can use a simple freezer bag, if that’s all you have! This is almost guaranteed to keep your wallet, phone, and camera dry when not in use. You never know where water is going to drip or splash.

7. Toys, Games, Books
Floaties, noodles, and water guns are fun toys that will keep your kids entertained all day. While they’re splashing around, make sure you have a good book to keep you occupied. If you’re not a big reader, bring a few games (catchphrase, anyone?).

8. Good Music
While everyone is relaxing in the sunshine, make sure you have some good tunes playing! Bring a bluetooth speaker and you’ll be set for the day.
